Check-in / Check-out Times
Check-in from 2pm, check-out by 10am. Arriving late? Just arrange it with us beforehand and your key will be waiting in our secure after-hours key box.
Cancellation Policy
Plans change – cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before your 2pm check-in. Cancellations inside 48 hours may be charged the first night, and no-shows are charged the full stay.
Free Off-Street Parking
Free off-street parking is included with every unit.
Payment Options
We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard (sorry, no Amex or Diners).
Smoking Policy
Riccarton Motor Lodge is a smoke-free property.
Pets Policy
We can welcome certified assistance dogs; otherwise we’re unable to accommodate pets.
Wheelchair and Accessibility
Two of our studios are set up with accessibility in mind: wider doorways, bathroom grab rails, a shower seat and raised toilets, and every bathroom has a level, walk-in shower. Our units are compact, so if you use a wheelchair or have specific mobility needs, please call us on 0800 341 212 before booking and we’ll talk through whether we’re the right fit.
Children & cots
Children are very welcome. Cots are available for $20 per night, and the two bedroom units suit families best.
Breakfast options
A continental breakfast ($15 per person) can be delivered to your unit on request: juice, fruit, cereal, toast and condiments. Tea and coffee are always in your kitchenette.
Kitchen and cooking facilities
Every unit has its own kitchenette: a hob, microwave and fridge, plus tea and coffee supplies. That’s perfect for breakfasts and simple meals, but note there’s no full oven – and Westfield Riccarton’s food court and the Riccarton Road eateries are a five minute walk when you’d rather not cook.
Laundry facilities
There’s a coin-operated guest laundry on site (available from 1pm daily); the units themselves don’t have washing machines.
WiFi and internet
Free unlimited WiFi in every unit – network name and password are in your welcome information.
Corporate stays
We look after a lot of corporate guests. Ask us about corporate preferred rates and chargeback billing for commercial clients.

Luggage and bicycle storage
We can store luggage for up to 12 hours after check-out, during front desk hours.

We are unable to accommodate temporary or emergency housing placements.
Getting Here
In the middle of Riccarton Road, Christchurch’s best-connected street. The airport is 12 minutes one way, the central city 5 minutes the other, and the bus stop at our gate links you to both. With Westfield Riccarton a short stroll away and the University of Canterbury closer than any other motel in the city, getting here is the easy part of the trip.
Getting here by Bus
Getting here by bus is easy. The stop is right at our gate, with services every 15 minutes:
Route 3 - runs from the airport past our door to the central bus terminal and on to Sumner, passing Christchurch Hospital on the way.
Route 5 – connects Hornby and New Brighton, running through Riccarton and the central city.
Getting here by Taxi
A taxi from Christchurch Airport takes about 15 minutes to reach Riccarton Motor Lodge, straight down Memorial Ave and through Riccarton.
Expect around $35 to $45 by taxi, or a little less with Uber, Ola or Zoomy. There's a taxi rank right outside the terminal, so no booking is needed, pickups leave from the designated area just across from the doors.
Getting here by Car
Riccarton Motor Lodge about 12 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes from the central city and an easy hop off the Southern Motorway if you're arriving from the south.
Coming down from Picton or up from Dunedin on State Highway 1? follow the signs to Riccarton and you'll find us right on the main road. Free on-site parking is available for guests.
