Addington Raceway & Events Centre
A Christchurch institution since 1899, Addington Raceway is the home of New Zealand harness racing and host of the famous New Zealand Trotting Cup, the centrepiece of Cup Week each November when the whole city comes out to celebrate. With race meetings running year-round and a busy events centre hosting shows and functions, there’s almost always something on. Staying with us puts you close to the action, and if you’re visiting for Cup Week, book well ahead, it’s the hottest week of the year in Christchurch.

Wolfbrook Arena
The city’s indoor arena in Addington hosts arena tours, family shows and top-level netball. It’s under 10 minutes’ drive from the motel, with easy parking nearby or a short taxi hop. Our Studio Units suit a one-night show trip perfectly.

Hagley Oval & Hagley Park
Hagley Oval stages Black Caps internationals through summer, and the surrounding park hosts the city’s biggest festivals. It’s minutes up the road from us by car or direct bus.

University of Canterbury
We’re the closest motel to the University of Canterbury: an easy walk up the road, or a couple of minutes by car. That makes us the natural base for open days, graduations, drop-off week and campus visits, and parents quickly work out that a unit with its own kitchenette beats a city hotel for a UC weekend. Our Studio Units suit a quick campus visit, and the Two Bedroom Units fit the whole family for graduation.

Christchurch Hospital
If you’re supporting someone at Christchurch Hospital, the last things you need are city-centre prices and the hospital’s notorious parking. Stay with us instead: the bus from our gate passes the hospital’s door every 15 minutes, your car stays free in our car park, and you come home to a quality unit, a comfortable bed and a hot, high-pressure shower. For longer stays, a One Bedroom Unit with its separate lounge makes the weeks easier – and we’ll always do a better deal on longer stays.

Christchurch Airport
We’re about 15 minutes from Christchurch Airport by car, and the number 3 bus runs from the terminal straight past our gate, so early flights and late arrivals are easy (just arrange an after-hours key with us in advance). Flying in for business? Half our guests are corporate travellers – ask about corporate rates and chargeback billing.
Getting Here
In the middle of Riccarton Road, Christchurch’s best-connected street. The airport is 12 minutes one way, the central city 5 minutes the other, and the bus stop at our gate links you to both. With Westfield Riccarton a short stroll away and the University of Canterbury closer than any other motel in the city, getting here is the easy part of the trip.
Getting here by Bus
Getting here by bus is easy. The stop is right at our gate, with services every 15 minutes:
Route 3 - runs from the airport past our door to the central bus terminal and on to Sumner, passing Christchurch Hospital on the way.
Route 5 – connects Hornby and New Brighton, running through Riccarton and the central city.
Getting here by Taxi
A taxi from Christchurch Airport takes about 15 minutes to reach Riccarton Motor Lodge, straight down Memorial Ave and through Riccarton.
Expect around $35 to $45 by taxi, or a little less with Uber, Ola or Zoomy. There's a taxi rank right outside the terminal, so no booking is needed, pickups leave from the designated area just across from the doors.
Getting here by Car
Riccarton Motor Lodge about 12 minutes from the airport, 5 minutes from the central city and an easy hop off the Southern Motorway if you're arriving from the south.
Coming down from Picton or up from Dunedin on State Highway 1? follow the signs to Riccarton and you'll find us right on the main road. Free on-site parking is available for guests.
